

Betty J. Mendonca, passed away on January 21, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on April 8, 1948, at home in North Dartmouth, she was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth. Betty was the beloved daughter of the late Norman and Julia (Niles) Rogers.
A graduate of Dartmouth High School, class of 1966, Betty dedicated several years of her career as a bookkeeper for Marder Trawling. Her professional life was marked by diligence and commitment.
Betty was married for 58 wonderful years to Ernest P. Mendonca. Together, they built a loving family, including their son, Christopher Mendonca, and their daughter, Tracy Cooley. Betty cherished her role as a grandmother to Austin and Dylan Cooley.
She is survived by her sisters, Carolyn McAlpine, Shirley Lanouette and her husband Roger, Nancy Pereira and her husband Kenneth, and Gloria Lanouette and her husband Robert, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Norman Earl Rogers, Barbara Allard, James Rogers and Diane West.
In her personal life, Betty found joy in quilting and gardening, with a particular love for flowers. Above all, she adored spending time with her grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.
Betty J. Mendonca will be remembered fondly by all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and generosity.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth.
