

Dan Velcea, age 44, of Dartmouth, died March 8, 2012, surrounded by his family and friends. He was husband and best friend of Gabriela for 27 years, married for 20 years, and the best father on Earth to Nicholas Daniel Velcea.
Born in Romania, son of the late Constantin and Iogenia (Nicodei) Velcea, he traveled to Montreal, Canada in 1994, then lived in Chicago and New York City before moving to Dartmouth in 2004. He graduated from Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest in Romania.
He was Co-Founder and Vice President of Engineering for Objective Logistics in New Bedford. Prior to that, he worked as a Software Engineer for MVS in Montreal, 3COM in Chicago and Credit Suisse in NYC and Boston. He most recently finished his first year of an MBA at UMASS-Dartmouth with a 4.0 average. Dan loved fast cars and driving, something he shared with his son Nicholas. He enjoyed the ocean, walking on the beach, photography and was well known for his dry sense of humor!
His funeral will be held on Monday, March 12 2012 at 10AM at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 186 Cross Rd. Dartmouth. Visiting hours will be Sunday 2-5 PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd. Dartmouth.
