

David F. Rezendes, affectionately known as Dickie, a lifelong resident of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away on January 12, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on August 31, 1957, David was the beloved son of the late Paul and Eileen (Lewis) Rezendes.
David graduated from Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School. He was a hard-working roofer and a proud member of Roofer's Union Local 33. Additionally, he was a master welder, known for his dedication and skill in his trade.
David is survived by his best friend of 40 years and caretaker, Michelle Harple; brothers, Steven Rezendes; Christopher Rezendes and his wife Lisa; Timothy Rezendes and his wife Kathy; and Andrew Rezendes. He was also the cherished uncle to Matt, Pat, Danielle, Kylie, Kasey, Erin, Kelsey, Evan, Paige Rezendes, Jameson St. Gelais, Jasmine Bettencourt, Janae Bettencourt, Francis Pontes, and Lilly Pontes. He is predeceased by his best friends, James Harple and Steve Pontes.
In his personal life, David found joy in spending time on his boat, expressing his love for being on the water and fishing. He was an avid music lover and a great hockey player. David was also the biggest fan of the New England Patriots, never missing an opportunity to support his favorite team. David’s love for his cats and his dog, Lucky-Lennox, was boundless and pure, the kind of love reserved for one’s own children.
Visiting hours will be held at Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, located at 230 Russells Mills Road, South Dartmouth, on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday in the funeral home at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Rural Cemetery in New Bedford.
David will be remembered fondly by his family and friends for his dedication, passion, and the love he shared with those around him.
