

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Luiz C. and Virginia (Cabral) Medeiros, he had resided in Dartmouth for over 55 years.
Mr. Medeiros was a graduate of New Bedford High School and received a Bachelor’s degree from Providence College, a Master’s degree from Boston College and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from Vanderbilt University.
He was a United States Army Air Corp Veteran having served during World War II.
Mr. Medeiros was a science teacher at Keith Jr. High School and then became a guidance counselor at Normandin Jr. High School until his retirement in 1982. Following retirement, he worked as a health inspector for the Town of Dartmouth.
He was a Dartmouth School Committee member and Library Trustee, a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, former President of the New Bedford Educators Association, former President of the Massachusetts School Counselors Association, former President of the Dartmouth Rotary Club, a member of the AARP, the American Legion and the Portuguese-American War Veterans.
Survivors include a son, L. Jeffrey Medeiros and his wife Carrie of Houston, TX; a daughter, Deborah V. Medeiros-Stroscio and her husband John A. of Rochester; a sister, Agnes K. Medeiros and her husband Chester of Fairhaven. Mr. Medeiros is also survived by three grandchildren; Katherine Stroscio of Rochester and Christina and Caroline Medeiros of Houston.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Thursday, May 6, 2010, from 4-7pm in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth. Funeral will be private. Donations may be made to the Dartmouth Public Libraries, 732 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth, MA 02748.
