We remember Lou from People Express and then Continental. Wonderful guy, hotel-roommate", in Howard Johnsons Hotel,  Newark. Old north terminal shared many

I was lucky to have lived in the same dorm as Lou in our final year at Stonehill. We traveled with the basketball team in our senior year as broadcaster and statistician for Stonehill Radio. 
Lou was an exceptional man who brought joy and happiness in his flight bag. May he rest in peace with the good Lord .

Just learned of Lou's passing and would like to add my condolences. Lou and I flew together and were "crash pad" partners sharing many "war/pilot" stories for many years during the PE/Continental era.  He was a great guy and will be missed.

One of my favorite Captains to fly with. Always telling jokes and his interest in criminology. Greatly enjoyed the layovers we had and meeting him for "happy hour', especially the beer and garlic chicken wings at Bru's Room Bar and Grill in Boyton Beach. Great pilot and gentleman.

I knew Lou for years. --He was friends with my dad, Dave, my family and myself. --He played in a band with my dad, called The Suns, at the Old Sixth Bristol Club, in New Bedford, Mass.--He also played in a band with his friend, and also my dad's friend, Gilly Correira. --They were both good guitar players. --Gilly and Lou played in a band called the Hit Paraders.--They made a 45 w/ the late John Sylvia, who sang vocals.
--Lou also taught me accordion, after I had Margie Westgate, for a year. --He was a good, kind, patient, teacher, and taught me accordion well, when I was a kid, preteens and teens, till he went in the air force, 69. --After he set me up w/ Mr. De Rossi who taught Lou, myself, and many students for years.
-He was also my friend, for years. --I will miss joking w/ him, the few times, I saw him.
--He talked about you, Mary Lou. --I have never met you. --He adored you, and I am glad he was w/ you!
--So, my friend, Lou, --No more pain, I will always remember you, and I will play

Mary Lou, Family and Friends.... Everyone who was given the opportunity to know and care for Lou share in your loss.  We are all Heartbroken and grieve his passing.

I first met Lou at PeoplExpress and had the pleasure of working with him in the Spring and Summer of 1982.  We flew together a lot and we shared similar backgrounds in Family, Military, Music and the Love of our occupations.  After he upgraded to Captain and we no longer flew together he would always stop me in the airport, share a memory of our time flying together and he would  ask about my family whom he met on CMH layovers.  

He was beloved among his peers and  we will always miss his smile, his laughter and great story telling.  Mary Lou, you are in our prayers.

Our hearts are heavy for your loss. A couple made from heaven.  Ron & I hold you both in the highest regard. The energy was always higher when we were with you . So many laughs. Louis will be missed so much. I have always described him as a gentleman’s gentleman. He had a charisma that held your attention from the beginning of his stories to the very end. We will always fondly remember Christmas Eve at my mom’s(cioci Evelyn ‘s)   house .  We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers .

    Sincere condolences to you on the passing of Lou. While we have never met, I knew Lou quite well from years of working together and flying together at People Express and then Continental. Lou was the consummate professional and always a pleasure to be with and work with. Somewhere along the way he picked the nickname of The Bigness. He will be missed. May God bring you comfort. Keep the blue side up.

I was so sorry to hear about Lou’s passing. It was such a pleasure to know him. He was a dear friend of my late husband Bill Tew. After BILL passed away, Lou would call me from time to time to make sure I was doing okay. I always loved talking to him. He was such a good man and a friend of many. He will truly be missed. I will keep him and Mary Lou in my prayers

How lucky am I to have known someone that makes saying Goodbye so hard. No amount of time and space can separate Lou from those whose life he touched, like mine.
I will always treasure the flights we spent in the air, side-by-side on the 727. All the laughter during, the cockpit “harmonica serenades” he performed for me from take-off to touchdown. A professional Accordionist, he became my on-line mentor. FREE.  
Goodbyes are not forever. Are not the end. It simply means I’ll miss you until we meet again.

Lou was more than a friend, he was a big part of “our family,” an honorary “brother-in-law.”   Every time we got together, he would greet you with a smile, kiss, and a big hug.  Lou was kind, generous and funny, always ready with a joke or two or telling a story about his time with the Air Force or the airlines. He genuinely cared about everyone, but especially my sister, Marylou, the love of his life.  They were always supportive of each other through all the “good” and “challenging” times that came their way.  We will surely miss him so much, but no one will miss him more than she.

Marylou, may you be comforted knowing that he is finally at peace and no longer suffering, and that someday you will be reunited.   You and he are in our thoughts and prayers always.



I am very sad and sorry in the passing Captain Louis. I had the privilege of flying with Louis early on in People Express and Continental Airlines. In the early years I was fortunate to fly withCaptain  Louis as his first officer in the B-727 and the B-747. 
Capt. Louis was a true professional in and out of the cockpit. He was a joy to fly with and always kept the crew lively with a good joke. 
Captain Louis was a good friend and will be missed by many.

      Lou was a large presence in our lives.  Always so glad to see us and always kind words for everyone.  Marylou would have us over for dinner and Lou  was always entertaining...would tell us jokes, his life experiences and adventures.  But mostly, Lou was a very generous soul.  I can't even imagine just how much he will be missed, especially by my sister (his Love) Marylou.   They shared so much together.  She was there for him always;  during his illness and with him to the end...Lou, I know you're in a better place.  No more suffering and bad days.  May you rest in peace,Lou.  I also  pray that Marylou will find some comfort knowing you're no longer in pain.  We love you Always.

We are very sorry and saddened to lose such a wonderful person and friend. We enjoyed Lou's company very much. He was always a bright light when being around him. His funny whit and personality will certainly be missed. We know he is now free from any pain and discomfort.  Sending loving prayers and thoughts.

I remember Lou well from New Bedford's DeRossi Music School.  He was a superb musician, had a great sense of humor, and never spoke ill of others.  I was saddened to learn of his passing.   RIP
