

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Glennon) Demers, he grew up in New Bedford and lived in Hanover, MA for 35 years before moving to Dartmouth 13 years ago.
Mr. Demers attended New Bedford Vocational High School and later served in the United States Navy. Paul was a multi-craft supervisor at Polaroid for 23 years. He was very instrumental in youth sports while he lived in Hanover. He helped with the Babe Ruth Team, Pee Wee football and started a basketball league for youths age 16 and under. He attended the Dartmouth Bible Church and was a member of the New Bedford Racing Pigeon Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Christine Demers of VT, Paula Lojek of Byfield, Kathryn Demers and her husband Michael Regan of Hanson, Jeannine Clark and her husband John of Plymouth and Lori Struble and her husband Steven of Carver; two step-daughters, Susan Leahy of Woonsocket, RI and JoAnne Lange of Los Angeles, CA; two step-sons, John J. Leahy, Jr. of Norton and Steven D. Leahy of Cumberland, RI; a sister, Elinor Lariviere of Acushnet; a brother, Joseph E. Demers of Dartmouth; sixteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 1-4pm with a Funeral Service at 3pm in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth.
