SOUTH DARTMOUTH – Robert John Malkoski, 78, of South Dartmouth, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021 in the St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford from stomach cancer. He was the husband of Diane M. (MacBarron) Malkoski and the son of the late John and Blanche (Chimber) Malkoski.
He was born in Bridgewater and lived in South Dartmouth for 50 years.
He graduated from Sacred Heart High School, North Yarmouth Academy and UMass Dartmouth.
Mr. Malkoski worked at Cornell-Dubilier, New Bedford as an Electrical Engineer before semi retiring and working the last 21 years part time at Home Depot.
He was a passionate animal lover, raising countless goats and saving numerous cats. He was an enthusiastic salt and freshwater fisherman and specialized in catching Striped Bass. He also enjoyed NHRA, NASCAR, blues music, Coors Light and Fox News.
Survivors include his widow; a son, John P. Malkoski and his wife, Lisa Macomber of Seattle, WA; 2 grandsons, Milo and Mac Malkoski, and two cats, Ridley and Meowy.
Bob requested no funeral on his passing, stating “if you didn’t see me when I was living, there’s no reason to come and see me when I’m dead.” His ashes will be spread among the places that made him smile: the goat farm across the street, horse stables, Home Depot, the Portuguese American Club and in Buttermilk Bay joining his parents.
The family has requested that flowers be omitted. Donation's in Bob's memory may be made to Project Spay of Swansea, a non-kill animal rescue.
