Alexander Joseph Roberts

Alexander Joseph Roberts 82, passed away peacefully at his home on August 21, 2010. He was the husband of Anne Blackie Roberts to whom he was married for 54 years. In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters and six grandchildren. Kimberly & Richard Lynch of Brewster and grandsons; Alexander, Christopher and Harrisson. Lynne & Mark Wheeler of Brewster and granddaughters; Carlisle, Peyton and grandson; Hamilton. Sister, June Lilienthal and husband John of San Francisco, CA and several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alex was born on June 24, 1928 in Newton, MA to Elizabeth MacIntosh and Robert B. Roberts. He graduated from Brighton High School and joined the Navy at 17 years of age. He served with the US Navy for two terms in World War II and the Korean War. He graduated from New England Aeronautical School with his pilot’s license and Boston University with his Bachelor of Science Degree.

He worked for Raytheon Company for 39 years as an Engineer and Manager in the Waltham, Bedford and Lowell facilities. Mr. Roberts was a former resident of Bedford, MA for 32 years and summered in East Dennis with his family before retiring to the Cape in 1990. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved the ocean. He enjoyed sailing, fishing, golf and tennis. His hobbies included boatbuilding, gardening, travel and many fun filled hours with his grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 11 at 11 am at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Route 134, East Dennis, MA. Gifts in memory may be made to the Beacon Hospice, Inc., 209 Willow Street, Yarmouth Port, MA 02675 or the charity of your choice.
