Alfred "Hap" Mazukina

E. DENNIS- Alfred “Hap” Mazukina, 94, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Crowley) Mazukina, with whom he celebrated 59 years of marriage.

Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of the late Alphonse and Josephine Mazukina. He grew up in Bridgewater and spent 43 years as a resident of Medfield. For the past 15 years he and Barbara resided in E. Dennis.

Hap proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during WWII until he was honorably discharged. He earned his Bachelors of Education from Bridgewater State and a Masters degree from Boston College. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a Guidance Counselor at Wellesley High School for over 27 years.

In his spare time, Hap enjoyed gardening and was an avid college sports enthusiast. He was a former ECAC Football Official, as well as the former Commissioner of the Tri-Valley League.

In addition to his wife, he is survived and will be deeply missed by their three children, Edward “Ted” Mazukina and his wife Karen, Ellen Wright and her husband Matthew, and William Mazukina and his wife Karen; and seven grandchildren, Emma, Hanna, and Olivia Mazukina, Patrick, Jack, and Ryan Wright, and Sarah Sommers; as well as two sisters, Tufelia Bassett and Genevieve Adamonis.

Visiting Hours will be held Saturday, April 7th from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, South Dennis. His Funeral Mass will be held following visiting hours at 12 noon in Our Lady of the Cape Church, Brewster. Burial will take place in Oak Ridge Cemetery, South Dennis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Hap’s memory c/o Our Lady of the Cape, 468 Stony Brook Rd.
