Gus was a great husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, friend and accomplished businessman. Born in Boston, Gus was the eldest son of the late Anthony and Lucille Dettore. Gus started working at a young age and through hard work and determination, made a name for himself within the Dunkin Donuts business community. The donut shop in Brighton was his pride and joy and the beginning of many enduring friendships. He also shared his leadership skills with Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster, serving as the President of the Middlecott Village Association for the past 25 years. Although Gus was defined by his work ethic, he lived his life completely, was the life of the party and quick to laugh, and was loved by all.
Husband of Barbara Dettore, Gus is survived by three children: Anthony Dettore of Boston, Christina Dettore and her husband Brent Woonton of Florida, and Lisa Morton and her husband Tory Morton of Florida; their mother Elena Greene Dettore. Gus is predeceased by his sister Constance Hudson and survived by siblings Elizabeth Kousidis of Dedham, Richard Dettore and his wife Helen of California and Ann Kershaw of California. Gus also leaves behind grandsons Landon and Tate Morton, and many loving nieces and nephews. Also missed will be the many lifelong friends who were such a large part of his life.
Services to honor Gus will be held Monday, February 9 at Doane Beal & Ames (729 Rte 134, S. Dennis MA 02660). Visiting hours with the family are from 10AM-12PM and there will be a Memorial Service from 12-1PM.
