Geraldino Anthony Bonta

Geraldino Anthony Bonta, 89, of Dennis, MA, peacefully passed away on May 23, 2025. Born March 5, 1936, in Boston, MA, Geraldino (Gerald, Jerry) was a devoted husband and father, known for his voracious appetite for knowledge; curious and analytical mind; and openheartedness. The youngest son of Sicilian-born immigrants, Jerry lived his life embracing the tenants of American democracy and justice for all peoples.

Gerald graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He spent his entire career with Raytheon Company working in various technical and managerial roles. He was responsible for the development of numerous weapon systems and was granted several patents by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Gerald married Joan Louise (Flood) of Dorchester, MA, in 1959. Jerry enjoyed reading books and magazines, notably historical and scientific; appreciating music of all kinds; cheering on Boston sports teams; gardening; golfing; and spending time at the beach.

Gerald is survived by his wife Joan of West Yarmouth, MA, and his children Stephen Bonta and his wife Dianne of Hollis, NH, Joseph Bonta and his wife Nicole Richard of Winchendon, MA, and Cara Coffey and her husband David of Gray, ME; grandchildren Erin, Matthew and his wife Allison, Meghan, Sarah, Jordan, Brendan, and Devin; and great grandchild Elijah. Jerry will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association are appreciated.
