Jean Mary Campbell

Jean Mary “Dovie” Campbell, nee Gleason, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 5, 2022.

Jean was born on July 28, 1928 in Chelsea, Massachusetts to James A. and Charlotte Millicent Gleason, who predeceased her. She attended local schools in Chelsea, West Roxbury, Brighton and the Katharine Gibbs School in Boston. In 1954, she married Gerald T. Campbell, Jr. and began her role as wife and mother of three children. Once her children were older, she began working as a bookkeeper at a local Cape Cod business. For a number of years, Jerry and Jean split their time among her beloved Cape Cod, Maine, and Florida then returned permanently to the Cape to be closer to her grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, sewing, and spending time with family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jerry, in 2017. She is survived by her son Paul and his wife Bernadette (Bauer), daughter Lisa and husband Cary Friedman, and daughter Christine and partner John Chapman as well as grandchildren Michael and Shannon Campbell and Austin (Arc) and Analisa Friedman. She is also survived by her sisters Judy Baker and Jackie Campbell and three nieces.

Jean’s family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Rosewood Manor in Harwich and Broad Reach Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rosewood Manor (Employee Fund) 671 Main St. Harwich, MA 02645 or Broad Reach Hospice 1455 Main St. Rte 28 Chatham MA 02633.

A memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Cape Church in Brewster on Tuesday, February 22nd at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Dennis Village Cemetery.
