Germany on October 31, 1917. After Hitler took over, she left Germany with her parents in November,
1933, to join her brother, Kurt Salomon (Salmon), who had emigrated earlier. Many of Lotte’s extended
family were killed in Nazi concentration camps.
Lotte and her parents joined Kurt in Nashville, Tennessee, but moved to Boston in 1935. There, she
married Herbert J. Aron. She attended classes at Boston University in piano pedagogy, and then taught
classical piano privately for years.
Two sons were born: Robert D. Aron, recently deceased, of West Dennis, MA, and Ronald Aron, of
Boxford, MA.
Lotte volunteered at the Gaebler Children’s Unit and at Metropolitan State Hospital in Waltham. She
conducted music therapy at the Gaebler Unit, and became a case aide at Met State, as well as at the
Newton-Wellesley Hospital’s mental health division.
She then went back to school, attending classes at Boston University and graduating with a Masters in
Counseling Psychology from Goddard College in Vermont.
She worked for a while at NEWW Center, a mental health agency in Newton Center until she moved
with her husband to Dennis, MA. She worked at the DMH Day Center, then for 11 years at Cape
Counseling Center, both in Hyannis.
She retired in 1990 to take care of her husband, who suffered from Parkinson and Alzheimer’s
Diseases. He died in 1996.
Her son Robert passed away 11/27/2018, and she is survived by her son Ronald, his daughters Gabrielle and Danielle and wife Jetta Bernier Aron, Robert’s sons David and Ben and his wife Joyce Aron, and 5 great grandchildren.
