Marguerite A. Tougas

East Dennis - Marguerite A. Tougas, 96, of East Dennis MA, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Cape Cod Hospital. She was born in Boston and was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Bohme) Lydon. She was a graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School for Girls.

She was the devoted wife and homemaker of the late Rene' P. Tougas born in Pawtucket RI. He was a plastic industry foreman and engineer.

Marguerite grew up in a kind loving family during the years of the depression where she learned core values of respect, compassion and thriftiness which served her through life. Together with her husband Rene', a diligent worker, they made a thriving couple. She carried herself with an air of class and dignity. She applied her creative talents as a seamstress, as well as to needlepoint, artwork, gardening and decorating. She was also an avid line dancer and square dancer. Up until the age of 96 she continued to have a memory sharp as a tack and held an air of tenacity, poise, and positive attitude. At peace, so closes her journey, ending another saga from the greatest generation.

Marguerite is survived by her sons Paul Tougas of Dennis, MA, and Kevin Tougas and his wife Kristin; and two grandchildren, Alyssa and Ryan of Melbourne FL.

She was predeceased by her siblings Kathleen White, Virginia Lydon, Grace Lydon and Stephen Lydon.

She was also the last surviving of the daughters and son in laws of the Tougas family descended from Rene' and Florence (Laporte) Tougas whose siblings were Alcid Tougas, Grace Brochu, Evelyn Cournoyer, Raymond Tougas, Florence Duquette, Beatrice Weiss and Leon Tougas.

The Funeral will be held on Friday April 14th :

Prior to the Funeral Mass the attending family is requested to gather at the Doane Beal and Ames Funeral parlor located at 729 Rt 134 South Dennis. Please plan to arrive promptly at 9AM. The time from 9:00 to 9:45 will be for prayer, reflection and meditation. The time from 9:45 to 10:30 will be set aside for celebration, fellowship, and remembrance of Marguerite's life. You will have an opportunity to relate a short uplifting story or event from Marguerite's life to those assembled at this time.

At 10:30, the family will then promptly assemble and proceed to Our Lady of the Cape parish, 468 Stony Brook Rd., Brewster MA, for the Funeral Mass. (Esteemed family, neighbors, and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass.)

After the Funeral Mass, the family will promptly assemble and proceed to the burial site at the Dennis Village Cemetery located in Dennis Village on Rt 6A.

In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be considered to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Marguerites name.

If you are traveling from off Cape on the day of the funeral, you should take into consideration and be aware of potential significant traffic delays due to bridge damage and ongoing repairs. This may occur as you approach the bridges.
