Mary Elizabeth Piccirilli

Mary Elizabeth (Barnes) Piccirilli died peacefully on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on November 28, 1934, in Boston, MA and was one of six children to the late John and Janetta (Howatt) Barnes.

In 1957, Mary married the love of her life, John Piccirilli. Mary and John spent the first part of their married life living in Walpole where John worked as the Principal of Norwood High School and Mary raised their two children. While residing in Walpole, Mary was an active parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church and taught the Christian Doctrine and Confirmation classes. Upon retiring 21 years ago, Mary and John fulfilled their life long dream and moved to Dennis, MA.

On the Cape, Mary volunteered with Meals on Wheels for over 15 years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Cape in Brewster. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing bingo, reading and especially cooking for her eight grandchildren.

Mary is predeceased by her sisters Marjorie Luti and Pauline Griffin (and husband John). She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years John Paul Piccirilli; her son Robert Piccirilli (and wife Laura) of Halifax, MA, her daughter JoAnn McQuillan (and husband Grant) of Dighton, MA; her grandchildren Austin, Shawn, Mark and Matthew Piccirilli and Reed, Wesley, Adeline and Ava McQuillan; her brothers John Barnes (and wife Kathleen) of Manchester, NH, Charles Barnes (and wife Eunice) of Manchester, NH; her sister Margaret Donahue of Quincy, MA and her brother-in-law William Luti. Mary is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Tuesday, March 7th at Our Lady of the Cape Parish, 468 Stony Brook Rd., Brewster, MA 02631. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to the McCarthy Care Center, 73 Service Rd., East Sandwich, MA 02537.
