Mary Breen Uek of Naples, FL and East Dennis, MA died May 30, 2023 at the McCarthy Care Center, Sandwich, MA.

Born in Medford, MA in 1941, Mary was the daughter of the late Joseph C. Breen and Alice Walsh Breen. Mary is survived by her husband Robert W. Uek and their three children -- Barbara Uek Hansen (and her husband Barclay) of East Dennis, MA, Robert J. Uek (and his wife Cynthia Stolpe Uek) of Boston and Falmouth, MA, and Paul S. Uek of South Yarmouth, MA, as well as six grandchildren -- Ashley, Krista, and Garrett Hansen, and Matthew, Courtney and Alexander Uek. Mary is also survived by her sister Alice Clancy of Merrimack, NH, and her brothers John Breen of Northfield, OH, and David Breen of Westford, MA.

Mary graduated from Girl’s Catholic High School in Malden, MA in 1959. She earned a B.A. in Sociology from Emmanuel College in 1963 and served as a social worker in Cambridge, MA. Mary married her husband in 1964 and they settled in Westwood, MA, where they raised their children and resided for more than 30 years. After raising her family, Mary earned a M.A. in Special Education from Boston College. She then spent a decade as a Special Education Administrator and teacher in the public school system of Millis, MA. Mary retired in the early 2000’s with her husband to Naples, Florida.

Mary was an active volunteer in many nonprofit organizations over the years, including the Young Women’s Club, the Cub Scouts, Meals on Wheels, and Habitat for Humanity. She loved spending time with her six grandchildren. Mary also enjoyed gardening, painting, reading, sailing, and traveling, and was an avid Bridge player.

Mary and her family have enjoyed summering in East Dennis on Cape Cod annually since 1975 and were long-time members of the Dennis Yacht Club where she served as a former Commodore.

All services will be private. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Dennis Senior Center in Dennis, MA. The family wishes to thank the hospice nurses at both the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod and the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich, MA.
