DENNISPORT, MA (formerly of Milton) - Thomas P. Hanley, 85, died on Wednesday, December 6, 2017. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Alyce M. Hanley with whom he celebrated almost 47 years of marriage until her passing in 2008.
Born in Dorchester on August 30, 1932, he was a son of the late William and Mary Hanley. Thomas proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After returning home he worked in a job that he truly loved as a “Sandhog” building tunnels including the Callahan Tunnel. Once he and Alyce started a family, he began a career in sales in the food industry, which he enjoyed and continued until retirement. He was also the proud owner of a real estate business in Dennisport with his wife for many years.
Thomas loved his time spent at the beaches of Cape Cod and Naples, FL and living on the Cape especially in the off-season. He also enjoyed traveling, particularly many wonderful trips to Ireland, France, and many great stops throughout the U.S. But what he cherished most was time spent surrounded by friends and family.
He is survived and will be deeply missed by his two daughters who were very lucky to have a special relationship with their dad, Karen M. Hanley and her partner John O’Brien of Hull, and Lori A. Donovan and her husband William of Plymouth; as well as four grandchildren that he adored, Ryan, Erin, Kayla, and Casey Donovan. He was also blessed to have wonderful lifelong friends to share some amazing memories and stories.
In addition to his wife, Thomas was predeceased by his siblings, Robert and William Hanley, and Virginia Gill.
