Walter John “Wally” Linowski passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024. He was 95 years old. The son of Mary Kardas and Walter Linowski, Wally was born in Dedham, MA on November 27, 1928. He was pre-deceased by the love of his life, Marie (Lynch) Linowski in 2012 and his son, Walter J. Linowski, in 1960. Wally is survived by his cherished two children, Sally Linowski (Gloria DiFulvio), and Nancy Linowski Gifford (Richard) and his treasured grandchildren Benjamin Walter Gifford and Jack Gifford. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Wally’s strength, mentorship, and generosity are remembered by all who knew him.
Wally graduated from Norwood High School and attended Wentworth Institute of Technology. He entered the US Air Force on September 22, 1950. Airman First Class Walter Linowski served in the Korean War where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the UN Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on November 23, 1953.
High school sweethearts, Marie and Wally married in 1959. Together, they moved to Cape Cod, Massachusetts where they built a life and a legacy. In 1955 the two founded and co-owned Dennis Equipment Company. The business thrived under Wally's steady guidance until he retired and sold the business in 1999. He wasn't just fixing boats, lawn mowers, and tractors; he was fixing lives, mentoring young mechanics and helping all who needed it. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a warm welcome for all who visited. His fierce love and dedication ensured his daughters and their families were loved beyond measure. Wally left this world peacefully, a testament to a life well-lived and a love that endured.
The family will receive friends at Doane, Beal, and Ames Funeral Home, 729 Rte. 134, South Dennis on Sunday April 14th from 2pm-4pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of the Cape Catholic Church in Brewster, MA at 11 AM on April 15th. Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemetery, in South Dennis, MA. The staff of Liberty Commons and the volunteers with Broad Reach Hospice made Wally’s last days safe and comfortable.
