Weston was born in South Weymouth and was the son of the late William and Elinore Monks of Plymouth MA. Weston graduated from Weymouth High School in 1953. His first job was framing houses. At 22, he joined the Airforce. After serving he worked for New England Bell for 30 years. Weston married Marylou Driscoll in 1965. The couple raised their four daughters in Brewster, MA.
In his free time, Weston loved wood working and construction. He built many homes throughout the Cape. He enjoyed making reproduction furniture and weaving Nantucket baskets using traditional techniques. Weston was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was generous with his time and talent and to quote his grandson Nate, “He set the bar high.” He will be greatly missed and remembered by his family and friends.
Weston enjoyed walks in the woods, spending time in Maine, and history. He especially loved the local history of Cape Cod which is evident in the time, effort, and craftsmanship he gave to the restoration of the Cobb House on Lower Road in Brewster.
A wake will be held on Thursday, October 7, between the hours of 4 - 7 p.m., at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Route 134 in Dennis, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 8, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Cape Church, Brewster, MA. The Rite of Committal will follow at Brewster Cemetery on Lower Road.
Weston is survived by his wife, Marylou, of Brewster, MA, his four daughters and their spouses, Lauren and Terry Doucette of Brewster, MA; Alison and John Collins of North Eastham, MA; Courtney and Andrew Giovinazzi of West Bath, ME; and Stacy and Digby Veevers - Carter of West Bath, Maine as well as fifteen grandchildren, Weston Doucette, Catherine Doucette, Mary Doucette, Sarah Doucette, John W. Collins, Nathaniel Collins, and Mac Collins, Enzo Giovinazzi, Dominic Giovinazzi, Lydia Giovinazzi, and George Veevers - Carter, Oliver Veevers - Carter, Benjamin Veevers - Carter, Helen Veevers - Carter, and James Veevers - Carter. He also leaves behind his brother Roger William Monks and wife Bernedette and their two daughters, Mylee and Parker Monks.
