He was a high school athlete and went on to play baseball for both The University of Syracuse and Amherst College. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1944 and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII as a B29 navigation officer with the 8th Air Force, 316th Bomb Wing. He returned from the war, graduated from Amherst College and married the late Margaret (Howard), spending the next 55 years together until her death in 2005.
He is survived by his three sons William, of Ft Lauderdale, FL, Thomas, of Harwich, MA, and Scott, of Dumfries, VA and two grandchildren, Christopher and Kyle.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home at 729 Rt. 134 South Dennis May 5, from 5-8PM and again on May 6 at 9AM followed by a Mass at Holy Trinity Church at 10AM. Interment will follow at MA National Cemetery at 12:30PM.
