On the eighth of February of this year our dear friend, ultimate father and gentleman, Don Jose (Joseph) Duran passed. I loved him as not only a friend but as a role model, second father and beloved patriarch. Sir, you will be missed even though you are still among us in spirit. Mr. Duran never did get my name right (Miguel) but “Michael” is ok. This is why I address him as “Joseph” in this little speech. He lived a life that few dream about and were the hardest worker and most enjoyable individual I had the pleasure of knowing. He wasn't just lucky at the slots, one of his favorite past-times, because he has an amazing wife for nearly 60 years and an outstanding family. THAT is where his true wealth lay. Rest in eternal peace and may his journey to the land of peace and tranquility be as his life was; perfect!

I was watching The Last Samurai the other night and was reminded of a phrase from the Samurai Lord, Katsumoto. “The perfect blossom is a rare thing. You could spend your life looking for one, and it would not be a wasted life” – near the end as the remainder of his warriors charge a barrage of automatic gatling gunfire and he lays on the battlefield dying, he looks up at the blossoms falling from the trees and with his last breaths says: “Perfect. They are all perfect”. “Rare” and “perfect” are words that come to mind when attempting to find the fitting description for Mr. Jose Duran's life. I won't tell you “how he died”, but I will tell you how he LIVED. He has finally reached his zenith; may he shine on us now more than ever before and continue to watch over his family.

Don Jose me va hacer  falta verlo en su tienda voy a extranar cuando me decia sobrina y siempre con su sonrisa! Mi sentido pesame para toda la familia! Dios los bendiga.

Mi mas sentido pesame a la Familia Duran. Que dios les de fortalesa. Don Jose siempre ha estado y estara en nuestros corazones usted y toda su familia.

Papi Jose te quiero muchisimo y estoy muy agradecido por el tiempo que pasamos juntos. Una cosa que mas echo de menos es su sentido del humor, que siempre sabias como hacer rei­r a todos. Gracias por dejar atras un legado increi­ble y espero que la familia Duran te hace sentir orgulloso.No hay palabras para describir  cuanto te voy a extranare, pero me hace muy feliz de saber que usted vela por todos sus nietos desde el cielo. Hasta que nos volvamos a ver. Besitos!

11. Gracias por haber cuidado de mi ti Bertha mi abuelita mi tio (Chiquito) Jose  tu amigo y cunado
12. Gracias por darme la Garcia de tener tu Sanger y tu don tanto de ti y mi madre. Padre lo que correce en mis venas es mi orgullo de ser tu hijo. Padre yo cuidare de mi madre.  Por favor saludame ha mi aguelita lupe. Y mi aguelita.

Familia Duran nuestro mas sincero pesame. Siempre estara en nuestros corazones la gran persona que fue Don Jose. Jamas olvidaremos que queria a nuestros hijos como si fueran sus nietos.Gracias Familia Duran y que Dios lo tenga en su Santa Gloria.

Tio ahora ya estas en un lugar lleno de Paz y luz . Ahora ya estas con mi abuelita cuidandola a Ella esta Feliz y nosotros triste de saver que ya no vas a estas fisica mente pero siempre estaras en nuestros corazon. Tio le doy gracias a dios por permitirnos todo este tiempo estar con nosotros . Tio solo te pido que a toda tu familia nos des resignasion y entendimiento para poder sobre pasar estos tiempos tan dificil. Tio te quiero y Siempre te llevare en mi corazon.

Dad. I want you to know that I will always will remember you. I want you to know that I love for all the good things you did for me and my family. Papa if I can only be 10% of the person you are I will call my self lucky you gave me knowledge you game me the means to be the person that I am. I know I admire you I know you are the best thing that any son can ask for you gave me courage you gave me the will Roy's game me the support you never told me nothing negative about me. Papa I know I can't change things it's life. I need to live life with out you thank you for the things we share together in all those days back in the 80s. We did a lot together. Dad I will always love you. ATT tu Hijo que jamas te olvidare. Te amo

Querido suegro, yo se que ahora estas descansando en paz.  No se porque dios te quito de nuestras vidas cuando todabilla teniamos tantos bonitos momentos que vivir.  Siempre te llevare en mi corazon y gracias por aver sido parte de mi vida.  Te quiero mucho, no sabes cuanto te voy a extranar, nunca te olvidare, siempre viviras en mi corazon.

Lo siento que tenias que dehar a tu familia aqui, pero ahora estas con tu hermana y tu mama. Ohala que estes feliz.
