Shirley E. Nowlin

Shirley was born on October 31, 1928 to Thorvald and Edna Erlandson in McVille, North Dakota, spending her childhood in Binford, ND. In 1954 she met the love of her life, Paul Nowlin and they were married in January, 1955 in Los Angeles, CA. They celebrated over fifty years of marriage before his death in 2006.

Shirley is survived by brother Leslie Erlandson of Oceanside CA, sisters Joyce Johnson of Fargo, ND and Jean Mosher of Cooperstown, ND, son David Nowlin (Susan) of Clovis, CA, daughter Cheryl Merrill (Jim) of Oak Park, CA; granddaughter Kris Waters (Mike) of Beaverton, OR, grandsons Jason Nowlin (Stephanie) of Hollister, CA, Eric Nowlin of Lancaster, CA, Andrew King of Clovis, CA and Mike Merrill of Oak Park, great-grandchildren Jake and Lily Waters and friend of more than 60 years Connie Danielson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul Nowlin, daughter Lori, sister Marlys Torkelson, and aunt Gladys Rowekamp.

A memorial service will be held on January 26th at 2 pm at New Hope Lutheran Church, 29295 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills, CA. In lieu of flowers Shirley’s family has requested that memorial gifts be given in Shirley’s memory to the New Hope Lutheran Church youth group or Red Willow Ministries Camp in Binford, ND.
