I learned to know Johanna as a wonderful person as she visited Austria where she had her roots, or when we visited her in Milwaukee. She was an important part of our family, too, and it was a great honor to know her in lifetime.

We will always keep her in our minds and in our prayers.

Dear Gail, Sandy, Joe and your families, I am grateful that your mother and grandmother kept contact to gether with her parents to Austria / Strem. We all have loving memories of parcels and beautiful letters (my mother and aunt) received and to short visits of Johanna spending time with us.
In the past year I was able to come over to visit Johanna and you. I hadn't had too much time with her however it was always beautiful. I will always keep our conversations in my mind and heart. She always gave me the feeling to be in the loving thoughts of a second mother when I was with her.

To all the families, thank you for your compassionate care and love for Johanna in the whole heart of the Family.

Our Atlantic City vacation is when I really got to know her.  Amazing what a 22 hour road trip will do.  I reminisce of the fun at the casinos, losing our luggage by leaving the rack open and many meals we enjoyed together.   
You all did a remarkable job caring for her.   What a loving tribute to a strong and incredible woman.  Find peace within yourselves and each other by all of these cherished memories.

Last time I talked with Johanna was on the doorstep of the home of  Sandy and Paul.
We have so many great memories of you all and many w/Sandy and Paul.

All those wonderful grandchildren were loved by Johanna. 
It is 'ageing'  to me to remember your grandparents so very well    and only a very short time ago it seems.

How fortunate for us all to have joyous memories of all the dinners we shared together as one family.  My thoughts of the laughter of Johanna and my Mother having “Old Fashions” in our Allerton kitchen at 5PM on Saturdays will stay with me forever.
