Sara Jane Hight

Sara Jane Hight died on Wednesday December 28, 2011, at Abington Memorial Hospital. She was 99 years of age. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late William G. and Emma McLaughlin Truitt. Sara was a resident of the Southampton Estates in Southampton, PA for the past 18 years. She had previously lived in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia.

Mrs. Hight was an employee of the John Wanamaker Department Store in center city Philadelphia for 25 year before her retirement in 1978. She was a former member of the Johnson Memorial Methodist Church in Philadelphia. Sara had been a member of the choir and was the trip organizer for the Church’s Senior Citizens Group. She enjoyed sewing, dancing, playing cards, and word puzzles and quizzes.

Sara was the beloved wife of Edwin Hight for 59 years before his death in 1994. She was the devoted mother of Nancy (Robert) Haynes and Virginia (Joe) Wheeler both of Cinnaminson, NJ. She was the loving grandmother of Robert A. Haynes and Paul Haynes; great grandmother of Lauren Haynes.

Mrs. Hight’s memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Wm, Rowen Grant Funeral Home Inc. Street Road & 2nd Street Pike, Southampton, PA 18966.
