Woodford A. “Bud” Thomas Jr. died on Thursday May 17, 2018 at his residence. He was eighty-one years of age. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Woodford A. and Anna Cook Thomas. Bud had lived at the Southampton Estates for the past year. He had previously been a resident of Southampton for fifty years.
Mr. Thomas was a retired electrical engineer. He had been an employee of Solid State Equipment and had previously worked for the American Meter Company in Philadelphia. Bud was a graduate of the University of Maryland in College Park, MD.
Bud was an active member of the Huntingdon Valley United Methodist Church. He served the church as treasurer and had been a member of the choir. Mr. Thomas was a Marine Corp veteran.
He was an active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity in Philadelphia and the Warminster Food Bank. Bud was also a former Boy Scout leader.
Bud loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking, creating projects for his family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling to many areas of the world. He was an avid reader and loved working with computers and playing Sudoku.
Bud was the beloved husband of Mary Ann Phillips Thomas for sixty years. He was the devoted father of Mark Thomas (Alice) of Hughesville MD, Bruce Thomas (Kristin) of Hampton VA and Craig Thomas (Judy) of Malvern PA. He was the loving grandfather of Morgan, Abigail, and Matthew Thomas and Hannah Prall (Matthew). He is also survived by his brother Richard Thomas of Bristol PA and his sister Lynn Seningen of Manassas VA.
Relatives and Friends are invited to call from 10 AM to 11:30 AM on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Huntingdon Valley United Methodist Church, Huntingdon Pike, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. His funeral service will be at 11:30 AM. The interment will follow In Forest Hills Cemetery.
