
Mr. Dale was born October 8, 1927 in Malvern, Arkansas, son of the late George P. Dale and Bernice Silvers Dale. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from the National Security Agency after 38 years. Before his retirement, he helped develop The Boys Club in Beltsville, Maryland and they participated in The Boys Club World Championship. He was known for his fairness and concern for other people, especially ensuring all players received equal playing time on the field regardless of their ability. Mr. Dale was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport and a member of Sea Notes Choral Society. Mr. Dale was preceded in death by a grandson, Benjamin Edward Vassiliev and son-in-law, Stephen Dale Early.
Survivors include his wife Dona Williams Dale of Wilmington; son, Michael Stephen Dale and wife Mary Hallama Dale of Orange City, Florida; daughters, Cheryl Elaine Dale and husband Richard Crickenberger of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Karen Dale-Barrett and husband Scott Barrett of Woodsboro, Maryland, and Sandra Dale Early of Boiling Spring Lakes; a special “son” Reverend James C. Sheldon and wife Jean Sheldon of New Jersey; sister, Rita Frances Dale: sister-in-law, Joanne Bond Dale; grandchildren, Jason Hallama and wife Sandy, Christopher Dale and wife Sarah, Patrick Dale and wife Amy, Amy Oeth and husband Luke, Benjamin Crickenberger and wife Kristin, Cameron Crickenberger and wife Julia, Leslie Barrett Flanagan and husband Jason, Eric Vassiliev, Dale Sheldon and wife Janet, and John Sheldon and wife Brianna; great grandchildren, Jeffrey, Abigail, Aaron, Austin, Christopher, Avery, Brielle, Kaitlyn, Eddie, Harper Mae, Charis, Gaige, Allura, and Jameson; and extended family.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, November 2, 2018 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport. Burial will be in George Washington Cemetery in Adelphi, Maryland.
The family will receive friends from Noon until 1:00pm Friday, November 2, 2018 at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service in Southport.
