Mrs. Beane was born November 29, 1919 in Highland, Illinois, daughter of the late Robert L. Rothley and Alice Hug Rothley. She and her husband re-located from Port Richey, Florida to Southport, NC in 2000, where she attended St. Peter Lutheran Church. Mrs. Beane was one of the first residents of Carillon Assisted Living with her faithful companion “Spot.” The staff of Carillon nicknamed her “Queen” in acknowledgement of her style, graciousness and ladylike demeanor. One of her famous talents was her needlework, an art that was passed down from her mother. She became well known for her quilting, sewing and knitting. Mrs. Beane also was an accomplished violinist and enjoyed playing the organ in her later years. She was a devoted wife to her husband Alton W. Beane for over 62 years until he passed away in 2002. She remained at his side during his final months at Dosher Nursing Home. Her love for her family and her generous acts of putting their needs before her own will always be remembered by those who knew her. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Beane was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Rothley.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children Carol Lynn von Radesky and husband C.W.R (“Mike”) von Radesky, II of San Diego, California, Gary E. Beane and wife Barbara Spencer of Nellysford, Virginia, and Marylan Lewis and husband John of Southport, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
