Born August 13, 1932 in New York City, he was the son of Joseph and Florence Skehan. He was known for his general contracting work and boat building in Southport. In 2001, he was the King Mackerel Champion throwing bait from his home-made boat. He was a great husband, father and grandfather, making sure his family was taken care of. His bucket list has been completed in life.
He married Josephine Catherine Grant on January 20, 1964, who preceded him in death.
Gerard is survived by his son, David Gerard Skehan and his significant other, Dana Beaty; his daughter, Lynda Grant Skehan and her husband, Gene Stebbins; and his grandchild, Riley Grant Halbert.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son, Jay Patrick Skehan.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
