James “Jim” Lewis Collier, Jr., 75, of Southport, NC, passed away on April 30, 2023. He was a devoted son, husband, father, and friend.

Jim was born October 1, 1947 in Lumberton, NC to the late Dorothy Lucille (Smith) and James Lewis Collier Sr., the eldest of three children. He attended Whiteville High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Campbell College. Jim ran and served as president of Collier Gas Co. from which he retired. 

Jim loved his daughters, Savannah and Victoria, hunting, fishing, friends, and family. He was an active leader in wildlife conservation and Ducks Unlimited. He was best known for a cigar in his mouth, his sidekick, Ben, and “good ole boy” charm. Jim had an unforgettable personality, something to which anyone lucky enough to know him can attest. His loved ones picture Jim cruising around Costa Rica, fishing and scoping out the ladies. Though he is gone, he will forever live in our hearts. 

Jim is survived by his beloved daughters, Savannah Collier of Southport and Victoria Collier (Andrew Odom) of Shallotte; granddaughters Dannie Serico and Eve Odom; countless friends.

  I was so shocked and saddened to hear about Jim. He and I go back many years and have so many great memories. Please know Mary Jo and I have you both in our thoughts and prayers.

Savannah and Victoria, I am so sorry for your loss.  I started my career working with him and I am very thankful for the experience and knowledge I gained.  He was a good man and a friend.  Your family will be in my prayers.
