He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served on the USS San Diego for most of his service. He was able to reconnect with many of his Navy buddies at their biannual reunions. Pete was known by others as having a huge personality that always put a smile on their face. He adored his family and enjoyed playing cards and board games with them. He was a hard worker and loved camping and fishing. Pete was enthusiastic about just loving life and being around friends and family especially his grandchildren. During some of his chemotherapy treatments Pete enjoyed the therapy dogs that would stop by for a visit to brighten his day.
