He was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 25, 1926 and was a WWII Veteran. He served in the US Navy from May of 1944 to June of 1946 on the USS Sangamon as a Petty Officer at the age of 17.
He retired from St. Barnabas Hospital as the Director of Internal Auditing. He was a lover of Big Band music. The ladies adored him but he was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Lizi Knudsen, who passed in 2013.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Betty and Robert Ryan; a son, Gary Knudsen; two granddaughters, Caitlin Ryan and Kaaron Kehoe and husband Brian; and a great-grandson, Bryce Kehoe.
A celebration of his life will be held in New Jersey in the summer of 2026.
