Shirley Ann McClendon James, 73 of Boiling Spring Lakes, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025 in her home. She was born August 5, 1951 to Evelyn Campbell and Maze McClendon in Bulloch County, Georgia.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Roy McClendon and Walter McClendon; mother-in-law, Athie Lee Davis and husband Henry; her grandmother, Lela Bell Campbell; aunt, Caroline Miller and husband Buddy; cousin, Franky Joyce; her son, Bobby Ray Davis, Jr.; and her granddaughter, Jessica Davis.
Shirley leaves behind her husband, William James of Southport; two sisters, Fran Moser and Faye Williams; her six children, Sheri, Hope, Sharon, Kim, Amanda, and Will; her eleven grandchildren, Justin, Jason, Bianca, Storm, Chris, Kayla, Amber, Katie, Karington, Makinna, and Bobby Davis III; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends too numerous to name but well loved.
Shirley started as a seamstress, became an iron worker with Brown and Root Construction until she moved to Oak Island, North Carolina where she managed and owned Shirley’s Shirt Shack.
Shirley loved with all her heart but she mostly loved her “brown eyed handsome man”. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and had a special place in everyone’s heart for how she made them feel. She loved fishing, shell seeking, and pulling weeds. We will cherish our memories of her forever.
Services will be held at a later date.
