Happy Father’s Day to the best man I have ever known. Blessed to be so lucky to have you as my parent. It’s been 4 years today since you’ve been gone. Always a daddy’s girl we did everything together. You taught me so much growing up and pampered and loved me so I could just be a happy little kid. We never worried or needed anything because you took your job as being husband and father and provider very seriously.
I want you to know 100% that you are the best father out there. You put yourself last and your family first. You lived your life for us. And it was the best gift we ever got. 
I wish you knew, I hope you know now in heaven looking back at your life… you were the perfect man, son, brother, uncle and husband. But mostly the most impact you had was raising me and Renee and giving us the best life a dad ever could. 
On this day I grieve in your absence but smile in all my memories of you daddy. I hope you’re having fun with mommy! Take care of Hannah for us till we meet again. You are truly an amazing person. We celebrate that fact but we also are mourning the death of our mother. Your wife. The love of your life. She joined you on our anniversary, a week ago. She is no longer with us on earth. She is in heaven with you. As your last wishes to me to take care of mommy when you were gone. I’m asking you to take care of mommy now that she’s gone from us. I know you will. You are reunited. Happy Birthday daddy. You got the best present ever. After 2 and a half years… you got your bride of 66 years back by your side. She was frightened to die so hold her love her and let her know everything’s going to be ok. Although our hearts are broken. Yours are intertwined and that brings us comfort. We love you so much. The “best man” at my wedding was not the closest friend my husband chose. He was the man who walked me down the aisle. 
I miss you dad. Every day. It’s getting worse as time goes by. I miss your advice, integrity, stories, songs and unconditional love. There’s a void in me now. Never knew when you were just a phone call away . I heard a message you left just the other day, your voice and words telling me you loved me and were thankful for me made me cry. Wish I had one more day with you to say the goodbye we never got to say. Hug and kiss you. Hold your hand and let you know your life had such an everlasting meaning to each of us. You never know how much you’re going to miss someone till they’re gone or what an impact they had on your life. I hope in some way you can still read my words daddy. You were the best man I have ever known. All the qualities a daughter could ask for in a father. And mom in a husband.
Renee, mom and I were so lucky God gave us you. I want you to know that. Somehow. Because I wasn’t by your side when you took your last breath. It haunts me every day. But I have faith somehow you can read these words from heaven. Your life meant so much to us. You thought you were a bad dad. You didn’t give us every thing we needed. But you did. January 17th On the one year anniversary...

We went to visit you yesterday on your birthday. First birthday without you here. It was hard. It was a sunny beautiful day. The 3 pinwheels we added when Harper, Christyne, Chuckie, Edmund and I went to visit you in July started to spin quickly on their own even though there was no wind. I believe you know we were there to wish you a Happy Birthday! You are my guardian Angel NAF 🙏

Hi Daddy,
I wanted to share a few things with you even though in some strange way I already know you know. Because I believe it was you reaching out to me to give me a sign, some comfort you were with me always.
The first odd experience happened to Chuck. He asked Alexa on a Saturday morning “What time is it?” and our Alexa replied, “It’s 9:35. Have a good morning George”. Chuck called for me to tell me Alexa just called him your name. It freaked him out a little. We’re used to it now because whenever your son in law asks Alexa anything it calls him George! We know it was you!
Second happened last week. I was out trimming a bird of Paradise (which I never do lately) and my cell rang. I was talking on speaker to a company and walking around our front yard when I noticed something sparkling under the dirt. I realized it was my wedding ring I lost over 5 years ago. Right there. Shining in the sun out of the blue saying pick me up! The lady on the line heard me screaming “How did my wedding ring get here? I can’t believe this!”  I knew it was you!
Last story happened last night. I’d been waiting for you to come visit me in a dream. It’s been 2 months. Nothing. I was up at 4 am because I couldn’t sleep. Went back to sleep. Had a vivid dream. Renee, mommy, you and I were all sitting at our dining table in our exact dining room at 8631 eating dinner. You were dressed like you were when you got home from work. Mom and you were sitting at the ends of the table. Renee and I were playing around with our food. Everyone was done eating. Mom cleared the table and you all got up to go watch tv in the family room. Except for me. You looked at me and said like you did so many nights when I was a little girl,” You can’t get up from the table till you finish your milk.” And I was sitting there alone. Stubborn. Not drinking my milk. Even till bedtime. And I woke up. And I knew it was you!

I became friends with Diane when we were in middle school so I have many fond memories of George. I remember him being such a soft spoken man. In all these years I don’t think I ever heard him yell. I am sure as teenagers we gave him many reasons to yell at us  for something we had done. I always remember George and Joyce going square dancing on the weekends. They were such a beautiful couple. George adored Joyce. Diane and Renee were the lights of his life. He was an amazing dad, grandfather and husband. He sang like an angel. I will cherish the memories I have of him forever. Rest In Peace George. Till we meet again. Love Robin❤️

We lived far apart but Uncle George was always very friendly and warm to my family.
I felt a connection to Uncle George because my mother always told me I took after my Uncle George. I was a gentile child and he was a gentile man.
My father adored him, and my mother was very fond of him.
He is a great loss to our family.
My heart goes out to Aunt Joyce, Dianne and Renee and there families.
God will remember him.

I remember Uncle George singing at my grandma’s goodbye party in 99.  He had an amazing voice and it was wonderful to see him sing. I was so impressed just a few weeks ago when he sang at Aunt Barbara’s funeral.  It was the same song and was very emotional.  There was something special about all the Babbitt siblings- such a zest for life and Uncle George definitely had that.  He also had those piercing Babbitt eyes! I am lucky to have inherited them and will also think of the wonderful Babbitt’s when someone comments on my eyes.  Much love to those who are grieving and may he always be remembered:) 

My mother Virginia, a Babbitt sister, often spoke fondly of  Uncle George, her "baby brother," the youngest of 8. I remember their long distance phone calls, since we remained in his hometown of Chicago. I first got to know him as an adult when I visited FLA. for conferences or to see Aunt Barbara and Uncle Norm, who lived nearby. Uncle George and I became "phone buddies" over the last decade or two, especially in the last few years. He had so many talents and deeply loved his wife and family. He brought both tears and smiles to me and many with his incredible voice and musical talent. I know that he will be forever treasured and remembered with love by wife, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends,  and others who were fortunate enough to have known him. My heart and thoughts are with his family.

We wanted to send our deepest condolences to all of you.  I will miss Uncle George singing at the Christmas parties down in Pembroke Pines at my Grandma Jeanne and Grandpa Jack's place.  It was always a nice time when the family was together.  There was always happiness and laughter.   I'm so sorry again for the loss of Uncle George.  May his memory be a blessing.

My sister Dianne pretty much summed up the past and the history of Dad and Mom.
My Dad was a smart man who loved trivia, reading the World Almanac and the Reader’s Digest. He loved Jeopardy and spent hours watching the Game Show Network answering questions on Cash Cab. He was the luckiest Yahtzee player I ever saw. He could still sing beautifully and did so at his sister Barbara’s Zoom funeral service a few weeks ago.
In his final months, the severe pain took the joy out of these things.
Now he is truly at peace.

My name is Dianne and I’m a daddy‘s girl. So I got really lucky that George Babbitt was my father. My dad was the youngest of 8 children born and raised in Chicago. He moved to Miami Beach with his parents and met a girl named Joyce Goldman who moved to Miami Beach from New York with her parents. They saw each other across a crowded room and the rest was history. They got married six months later. Then the romantic solitude was interrupted by two screaming babies… Renée and Dianne. We had the best dad ever. No competition. He loved and adored us almost as much as he loved and adored our mom. Being the only man in the house obviously taught him how to be a better man. Never an unkind word we grew up in a very safe and nurturing environment. He taught us how to be good by leading by example. I’ve said many times I had a perfect childhood because it was true and I thank my parents for that. My dad was a kind generous man. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for others. I remember he bought Renée and ice cream sandwiches at a Woolworths and he bought some for two other kids standing there and I got so angry and said why would you buy ice cream sandwiches for them you’re our dad! And he said because it was the right thing to do. Yes, I was a brat. A daddy‘s girl. And I dreaded this day my whole life I told my parents don’t ever die, if you die I’ll die I’ll go insane but I didn’t... some of you might disagree. And the reason I didn’t was because as selfish as a kid I was I learned from my dad it would be selfish of me now to want my father to stay to make the rest of us feel better. When he was in so much pain for so long. He made me realize that by letting him go he would finally be at peace. Believe me if I could have him here forever I would.

94 years old. He lived a long and happy life. 66 years of marriage to the girl he met across a crowded room when he was 27. He was a smart honest kind husband, father and grandfather. His voice was beautiful. His joy was singing for others, square dancing and traveling with his wife. His grandchildren and especially Harper. 

He always worried he was a burden on us especially in the end. He always worried about my mom being taken care of. He always worried about the car behind him following too close… The fact is he always worried.
So now I believe all his worries are gone. Along with his pain. He’s reunited and singing “The girl that I marry” and “Good Night Sweetheart”to all his family and friends in heaven.
It’s going to be hard when the grief finally sets in and he’s not here with advice or to see him like we did every day.

He will always be with us in our hearts forever. I will still talk to him often. And every time I say “Alexa Play Robert Goulet” I will know he will be listening too. And every night my mom goes to bed he will kiss her goodnight. Good night sweetheart till we meet tomorrow.
Goodbye daddy. I love you and miss you forever. You’re the best dad ever.

Yes they said I looked like a monkey when I was a baby and called me Monkey Face!

     Uncle George was my mother’s youngest brother. He and my mom were very close and so the families were close. 
     I remember my Uncle as a very sweet and caring man who loved to sing.
When we were visiting he would often serenade us with his deep resounding pitch perfect voice. 
     He was a genuinely nice person and we would call each other often. I enjoyed baking oatmeal raisin cookies for him and my lovely Aunt Joyce.
      He’s now with his big sister, Barbara, my mom. I want to believe he’s singing to her once again. 
     I will miss our conversations, his laughter and his songs.
Thank you, Uncle George, for sharing some of your time with me. I won’t forget you and your love lives on in my heart.

One of my  favorite memories of my Uncle George was the time he sang a beautiful song while visiting his sister Barbara at her home. Another was an occasion at a restaurant, where, after eating, my mother and her bother George went to a separate reception space where they sat together and talked, reminiscing and just having fun.  The kindness and love they shared for one another was so evident and uplifting. 

Remembering Uncle George is a reminder to me of the  importance of being open to others. I was struck by his willingness to listen and share reciprocally with me. This is a special trait that's hard to find nowadays. And he was a special person!

George was a gentle soul and spirit who I know will live on and shine brightly in our own hearts. 

May we all act with the same enlightened actions toward others that made George such a loving  and compassionate person.

May George's family find all blessings at this difficult time.
