Helen was born in New York City in 1941 and spent her childhood in Queens. She was the beloved daughter of Alice and Martin Schwartz, and grew up alongside her older brother Josef with whom she was always close. She had treasured memories of sleepaway camp and stayed connected to her childhood friends her whole life.
Helen graduated from Queens College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She began her career as a home economics teacher and then shifted her focus to the travel industry, working for both Pan Am, in their Park Avenue headquarters, and later for Eastern Airlines in Florida. Following her airline roles, she worked for a local travel agency where she was known for her warmth and expertise. She truly traveled the world and helped so many others to see it.
Helen was the beloved wife of Ronald Feinberg. They met and fell in love in New York City and were married for over 57 years. Together, they built a tight-knit home full of love and laughter, Jewish tradition, lasting friendships, and the annual Feinberg Family Thanksgiving.
She was a devoted mother to her four sons and a loving mother-in-law. She loved her son’s wives with all of her heart and welcomed them into her family. Helen was an exceptional matriarch, leading and guiding her children and their families. Her true superpower was as a grandmother to her eight grandchildren.
Helen will be lovingly remembered by Andrew and Stacia (and their children Jack and Ben); Lee and Cecelia (and their children Maxwell and Vivienne); Glen and Leah (and their children Asher, Siena, Sasha, Hannah, and Teddy); and Eric and Alison (and their children Matthew and Brielle).
Helen loved spending time with her many friends and playing mahjong and canasta, where her sharp mind, competitive spirit, and laughter were always on display.
She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, a nurturing mother, and a woman who made everyone around her feel welcome and supported. Her presence brought comfort, her humor brought smiles, and her love left a lasting imprint.
Helen will be deeply missed and forever loved.
