Daniel Urban Mulcahy, 85, of Sparta, NJ passed away on July 24, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Dan was born in Brooklyn, New York and was a resident of Sparta since 1972. He was stationed on the USS Bennington in the Caribbean from 1951-1955. Dan was on the ship when it exploded in port at Newport, Rhode Island killing 100 men on board. He was a member of the American Legion Post #86 in Newton, NJ. Daniel is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Regina Cormack Mulcahy; devoted father of Regina Harrison and her husband David of Milford, NJ; Brian Mulcahy and his wife Marguerite of Newton, and Thomas Mulcahy and his wife Laura of Highland Lakes, NJ. Daniel is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Daniel, Patrick, Kevin, Kiersten, Kelsey, Brendan, Sean, Sarah and the late Jamie and great grandchildren: Ava Grace, Owen James, Elizabeth & Bella. Friends are invited to celebrate his life on Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 4-8pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St, Sparta, NJ 07871. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am Monday at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 294 Sparta Ave, Sparta, NJ. Interment will follow at Christ The King Cemetery at St. Paul’s Abbey, Newton, NJ.
