

Donald Burroughs, 65, of Andover, died peacefully on Thursday April 07, 2011 at the New Jersey Veteran’s Hospital in East Orange, after a short illness. Born October 18, 1945 in Orange, NJ Donald was raised in the Lake Mohawk / Sparta area and graduated from Sparta High School in 1963 before attending the University of North Carolina. Mr. Burroughs honorably served his country in the US Army and received numerous meritorious citations including two Army Commendation Metals for his service and actions as a Sergeant serving in Vietnam.
Donald was an avid motorcyclist, and enjoyed time spent with friends. Donald eventually settled into Andover, NJ and was self-employed in a family owned small component manufacturing business, before operating his own automotive repair service. Donald could make you laugh with his problem solving skills and could lighten spirits to any situation. He was always available and willing to help, he will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Donald is survived by two brothers, John “Jack” Burroughs of Palm Coast, FL and Robert Burroughs of Doylestown, PA. Five nieces and nephews- Tricia, John, James, Sandy and Beth-Ann.
A memorial service will be held at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St Sparta, NJ on May 27, 2011 at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Donald’s name to Sparta Volunteer Ambulance Squad at PO Box 246 Sparta, NJ 07871
