

Sparta, NJ- George Henry Lippencott, Sr. passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ. He was 88. George was born in Union City, NJ to Robert and Catherine (Sharpe) Lippencott. He served his country proudly in the US Navy on the U.S.S. LST 772, earning a WW II Victory Medal. George worked as a truck driver for Standard Brands for 27 years, then for the US Postal Service for eight years retiring in 1992. During his career, he drove over a million miles without a single ticket or accident and never once took a sick day in 44 years. He was a deacon of his church, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairview, NJ, as well as a member of Teamsters Local 560, in Union City, serving as shop steward and then recording secretary for the Retired Teamsters Union. George is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years; Helen (Sampson) Lippencott, and their seven children. Linda Grinde, George and (Laura) Lippencott, Helene and (Chuck) Emery, Doreen and (Dino) Russo, Priscilla and (Tony) Tabbacchino, Dr. Robert (Jami) Lippencott, and Joanne and (Tom) Mayer. Sixteen grandchildren: Lynett, Arlene, George III, Danielle, Daria, Dean, BreeAnn, Bente, Leigh, Ross, Dana, Kenneth, Anthony, Brooke, Daniel, Michael and their spouses, and six great grandchildren. George loved traveling around the world, but he was most happy at home being with his family. He was the best Brother, Husband, Dad, and Grandfather anyone could ever hope for. Safe Home, Dad !
