Mary Kay passed peacefully at home into eternal life on February 10, 2021 after a brave battle with breast cancer. A loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to so many. She will live forever in our hearts.
Mary Kay grew up in Ridgefield Park & Sparta, NJ and was a resident of Byram Township for over 50 years where she and her husband raised their four children. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Church and a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake High School (Pope John XXIII) in Sparta, NJ.
She began her working career as a secretary for the law firm of McGovern & Roseman, Newton NJ and later worked for more than 25 years as office manager of Pediatric Associates in Newton, NJ.
Mary Kay is survived by her son Robert and his wife Melissa of Sparta, NJ, her daughter Margaret and her husband William McCollum of Pittsburgh, PA, daughter Kathryn and her husband Josue Rosario of Sparta, NJ, daughter Rachael and her husband Kevin Walsh of Alpharetta, GA and 11 grandchildren; Brittany, Andrew, Evan & William Luba, Conor, Shane & Terence McCollum, Alexander Rosario, Kevin, Daniel & Kelly Walsh. She is also survived by four brothers: James McChesney and wife Sylvia of Conway, SC, Dennis McChesney of Sarasota, FL, John McChesney and wife Kate of Sparta, NJ, Tom McChesney and wife Sherry of Bloomingburg, NY, and five sisters: Patricia McGuire of St. Petersburg, FL, Jody Morrell and husband Allen of Savannah, GA, Louise McChesney of Branchville,NJ, Peggy Walsh of Sparta NJ, and Theresa Concannon and husband Patrick of Breezy Point, NY.
She is predeceased by her parents, Louis Francis and Kathryn McChesney, her husband of 55 years, Robert A. Luba Sr. as well as brothers William, Francis and Gordon McChesney.
A memorial mass will be celebrated 10am Friday, April 16, 2021 at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Sparta NJ with interment of cremated remains at Sparta Cemetery immediately following.
