

SPARTA - Patricia Hughes (Burke) peacefully went home to the Lord, on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice. She was 80. Pat was born in Orange to Edmund Francis and Mary (Gallagher) Burke. She was a Lake Mohawk/ Sparta resident for over 56 years, previously living in Westfield. She was a graduate of Berkeley College and was employed as an executive secretary with the RCA Corporation in Bridgewater for several years. Pat was also a homemaker and co-owner of Burke's Liquors in Sparta. She enjoyed playing bridge and mahjong but absolutely cherished traveling. Pat had visited over 70 countries on seven continents and all 50 states, but most important to her was the time spent with her family. Predeceasing her was beloved husband, George C. Hughes, and brother, Ted Burke. Pat is survived by two daughters, Diane (Mark) Lind and Beth (Tim) Spaulding; one son, Michael (Teresa) Hughes; six grandchildren, Brad (Jackie) Lind, Meghan Lind, Patrick Spaulding, Kelly Spaulding, Sherri Hughes, and Monica Hughes; and her brother, Randy (Karen) Burke. Friends and family are invited Saturday, Aug. 6, 4-8 p.m., at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St. Sparta. A service will be celebrated on Sunday, Aug. 7, 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home.
