

Paul Edward Simpson, 70, of Sparta, passed away on November 21, 2011 at the Hackensack University Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born in New York City in 1941 and lived in High Crest Lake, NJ for several years before moving to Sparta, NJ 38 years ago. He was a 1962 graduate of Montclair State College with a BA in Education. Paul attended Officer Candidate School becoming a First Lieutenant in the US Army. He worked as a Physical Education teacher for the Oakland Public School System, retiring in 1999 after 36 years. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and remained very involved with the scouts in the years following. Paul was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church, Sparta; he was the Holy Name President at St John Vianney, Newfoundland, NJ; he was a volunteer at the Salvation Army and the Manna House Community Kitchen, Newton, NJ. He was a member of the St. James Plantation Golf Clubs in Southport, NC. Paul's most important activities centered around his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a coach, avid sailor, runner, football player, hunter, gardener, animal lover, fisherman, and part-time contractor.
Paul is pre-deceased by his sister Nancy Morgner and his parents Howard and Dorothy Simpson. He is survived by his beloved wife Dolores “Corky” Simpson; son Paul and his wife Rebekah, daughter Paige and her husband George; son Jamie and his wife Denice; grandchildren; Claire, Paul, Chloe, and Jack; sisters: Susan Benevy, Kathy Johnston, Margaret Fredericks, Marianne Schmid, and brother Robert Simpson. Paul will be dearly missed by his loving wife, family and friends.
Friends may call Friday, November 25th, from 2-4, 7-9 at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral mass will be held at 12noon November 26th, Saturday at Our Lady of the Lake Church 294 Sparta Ave., Sparta. There will also be a repast on Saturday November 26th at the Lafayette House at 2 pm, Lafayette, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to: The American Cancer Society.
