Dearest Aunt Tena,
You are often in my thoughts and bring a smile to my face.  We 
didn't get to share a lot of time together but our time was
always fun.   We typically got into conversations that 
resulted in hardy laughter (it would be something you said
or my mother).  I know the guys were always wondering
what we were talking about.  I relished those times and
looked forward to them whenever we were going to see
you.

You were the only person in our family who actually listened to me; what I had to say and you provided answers to numerous
questions regarding our family.

I truly miss you.  Perhaps you are looking down at us from
your Heavenly cloud.  Please God always be by Aunt Tena's side.

My Aunt Tena, most precious, will long live in my heart.
Aunt Tena enjoyed my questions about family life and 
what it was like to share each day with one sister and four brothers.   Her responses were warm, loving and afforded
gales of laughter.  Every moment spent with Aunt Tena
became a cherished memory.  

May God clothe you in Grace and raise you up to partake
in the splendor of His promise.



The past few days since I learned of the passing of my aunt Tena have been filled with many emotions.   Sadness of course for the loss of a beloved family member and the impact this has on those closest to her, joy for the memories of happier times with her and the entire family, remorse for the passing of the last of my father’s siblings and finally regret for years of missed opportunities to have spent more time with extended family.    As we age, we become acutely aware of how time truly flies.   It helps I suppose during times of grief but hurts when events trigger memories of moments fading more each year.   
Pictures on the memorial page reminded me that Tena and my mom Evelyn were the best of friends. Both were born in New York City only 24 days apart in December 1926, classmates during school, confidants through life, a relationship ultimately resulting in Tena’s brother, my father, meeting and marrying my mom.    Both women were strong, hard-working, caring, fun-loving friends, wives and moms!   I am left with gladness knowing they will be reunited in Heaven and imagining what mischief they will be up to brings a smile to my face.
