Veronica G. “Ronnie” Heslin, 94 of Sparta, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. Veronica was born in New York City, NY and was a proud New Yorker all her life even though she first moved to Lake Mohawk in 1957 with her husband, Arthur, and never returned to live in “the city.
Veronica treasured her Catholic school education, having graduated from St. Joseph’s Grade School in Morningside Heights and Holy Cross Academy in mid-town. Her first year out of high school, Veronica attended Remington Business School and then went to work at U.S. Rubber in Rockefeller Center where she met her husband just before WWII. They were married 70 years.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake RC Church and Lake Mohawk Country Club, and a former member of the Sparta Senior Advisory Council. Veronica was predeceased by her beloved, Arthur, in April of 2018. Veronica is survived by her four children, Chris Heslin and his wife Terri of Darnestown, Maryland, Nancy Reading and her husband Ed of Lake Mohawk, Michael Heslin and his partner Katie of Fairfield, Connecticut, and Jack Heslin and his wife Davinder, of Monroe, Connecticut. Veronica is also survived by her grandchildren, Kevin, Carley, Meghan, Allison, and Jeet. She also leaves behind her great grandchildren, James, Ashleigh, and Maggie. Visitation will be held at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Sparta NJ on Monday, December 3, 2018 from 3 – 5PM and 7 – 9PM. The funeral service will be at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 294 S Sparta Rd., Sparta, NJ on Tuesday December 4 at 10AM. Interment will follow at Sparta Cemetery.
