

Virginia “Ginna” Callahan, 65, of Sparta, NJ passed away on October 16, 2014 surrounded by her loving family and friends. Ginna was born in Hoboken, NJ and lived in Cliffside Park before moving to Sussex County in 1975. Ginna received her BA from Farleigh Dickinson University and her Masters as a Reading Specialist from Jersey City State College. Ginna taught in the Fredon School system but spent most of her teaching career at the Sparta Junior High School. Ginna was a consummate student of the importance of people and faith in life. Ginna wanted to share her message of hope and belief through her book, “What if…I Truly Believed” which is an expression of faith through her journey on this earth. Ginna is survived by her beloved husband Terry, her three angels: Tara, Meghan, and Kristin and their significant others: Marcus, Rusty and Pete. She was Grammy to 5 beautiful grandbabies: Abigail, Grace, Hunter, Olivia, and Summer. She is also survived by her four siblings: Marilyn, Tricia, Bob, and Paul and predeceased by her brother Joseph. Her life will be celebrated Monday, October 20, 2014 from 2-7pm at St. Kateri Church, 427 Stanhope Rd., Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral mass will be held at 10am Tuesday at St. Kateri. Interment will follow at Sparta Cemetery.
An angel truly walked among us in the way she touched the world. Whether it was sitting with friends with a cup of tea or a shopkeeper behind the counter or a casual passerby on a beach she left each person uplifted and enriched by her outreach and her message.
