Cassie Dodgen

Cassie past away comfortably at Hospice House of Spokane after a short bout with AML. She had a long and full life that spanned from growing up on a small farm in Smokey Lake, Alberta to traveling the world. She had a son, Michael Kazuba of Spokane WA (deceased) and a daughter Maxine Wells of Ford, WA. There are two granddaughters who loved her dearly and will miss her greatly, Melanie Wells of West Seattle WA and Michelle Kazuba of Spokane WA. Cassie had a large family, all living in Canada, who meant the world to her. She was a naturalized citizen and loved her new country. Her first love, Max Joseph Kazuba, hitchhiked from an air force base in Louisiana to Edmonton Canada to marry her. He passed away young in 1962 at Fairchild Air Force Base. Cassie remained in the area to raise her family. She worked at the FAFB school cafeteria from which she retired. Cassie worked in the bar/waitress/food service industry and you may have met her at Little Joe’s Tavern or The Buckhorn Inn, both in Airway Heights, WA, or perhaps The Longhorn Barbecue on Hwy 2, west of Spokane. Cassie was married three times and retained the last ones last name of Dodgen. All three were Air Force. She met Robert Goodnetter in 1983 (also Air Force) and they were life partners until he passed in 2011. Her years with him were filled with traveling, camping and fishing in the minnie-winnie and being part of the Brunch Bunch (she loved all of you). She had many friends who will tell you she was not someone you forgot. She enjoyed playing cribbage, bowling and golfing and had a thing for flying. Up until 2021 she would walk 2 miles a day and we couldn't keep up with her on her daily exercise workout. Cassie was always the most generous hostess and her home was always the welcoming gathering site. She was the best mom ever! Family meant everything to her. For those who loved her, things will never be the same. A Farewell Service will be held on April 30, 2022, at 11am at Thornhill Valley Chapel. 1400 S. Pines, Spokane, WA. Doors open at 10:30am with giveaway tables.
