Donald Wayne Haire was born on December 15, 1949 to Paul (Bud) and Shirley Haire in Spokane Washington. Not long thereafter the family moved to Alaska where at age 4 Don contracted the polio virus which resulted in a very lengthy treatment in the iron lung followed by long hospitalization and transportation from hospitals in Alaska to Seattle and finally his return to Spokane. Don faced and learned to live with the challenges and disabilities caused by polio, always with a positive attitude and a forgiving heart. Don later graduated from Palmer High School, Palmer, Alaska. Don returned to Spokane with the family where he married his wife Jeannie Haire on August 20, 1977. During his fight with cancer he kept his positive attitude and forgiving heart. On September 30, 2012 Don went home to be with his father, mother, sister Colleen, grandparents, aunts and uncles who preceded him in death. Don is survived by his wife, Jeannie Haire, sister, Sheryl McCormack, son, Patrick Haire, daughter, Heather Haire-Wilhelm, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunt and cousins and sister, Kathie Rektor. He is a brother, father, grandfather, nephew, cousin and friend who was loved and will be dearly missed.
