Born June 3, 1949
Lost her battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) on October 28, 2010 in Spokane WA. By her side and holding her hands as she very peacefully left us were her daughter Janae Skinner-Cork, brother Roy Lange and her best friend Kathi Simmet. Donita was re-united this day with her husband of 31 yrs Tom Skinner, her son Bryce Skinner and her Daddy Bud Lange. October 28th 2010 was really a blessed day because it was the day that Donita’s heart and body were healed. Donita was born in Newport WA, lived there only a short time and moved to Lewiston ID, where she went to grade school and Junior high, and met her life time friend Marcie Eisele. She then moved with her family to Spokane WA where she attended University High School and graduated in 1967. Donita then met her loving husband Tom Skinner. They married and had two children, Bryce and Janae. Bryce gave Donita a smart and handsome grandson named Thomas Allen Skinner (10) and Janae and her husband Steve blessed her with two more beautiful children named Weston James (3)and Kaycin Marie (1 ½). Donita is survived by her adoring 90 yr old mother Dorothy Lange, her sister Peggy Trout and her brother and Sister in law Roy and Michelle Lange. For 40 years Donita had been a brilliant financial advisor with DA Davidson and UBS, she had worked with UBS 20 yrs when she had to retire on disability due to her diagnosis of ALS. Donita was crucial in the lives of her clients she not only handled their money but was their confidant helping them to retire with a legacy for their own children and grandchildren. She was their friend and like everyone that knew Donita they loved her. Her career was everything to her and she was good at it. Donita has had more tragedy in her life than most people can handle, she lost her husband of 31 yrs, lost her 36 yr old son and then became ill with a ruthless, devastating disease. ALS took her body but NEVER took her positive spirit, she never complained, she took everything thrown at her with a grace only she could have had. Donita was a fighter and an amazing person she lived a life that should be a lesson to all of us. Whatever life may give us, whatever life may take from us….it’s the attitude we have that makes us! A visitation will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 3 & 4th from 4:00-8:00PM at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA.
