Evelyn Angelina Penza (Campbell) was born on March 21, 1924 in Rochester, New York and passed of natural causes on September 21, 2020 at her home in Greenacres, WA. Her parents Phoebe and Thomas Penza moved their family from Rochester, New York to Los Angeles, California when Evelyn was 14 years old. Evelyn and her family moved to Spokane, Washington in 1968.
Evelyn was the oldest of three children including her brother Richard S. Penza and sister Arlene T. Penza. She lived a long and healthy 96 1/2 years! She was our devoted granddaughter, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She touched so many people, all of us are so lucky to have been a special part of her long life.
"Our Family" was Evelyn’s WHOLE world here on earth. She was so very proud of her Italian heritage and would tell you about her upbringing any time!
Evelyn worked tirelessly at being a great mother, working at home to care for her family, sacrificing all that was necessary to provide for everyone. Outside the home, over the years, Evelyn worked at The Frito Lay Company in Los Angeles and also as a school crossing guard. In Spokane, Evelyn worked at The Decal Company, School District 81 and later opened an in-home day care business of which she was very proud and passionate about.
Evelyn enjoyed traveling and many activities including cooking, gathering with her family and working puzzles to name a few. She also loved the deer and wildlife who lived in her yard. Caring for them was a highlight for her!
She is survived by her sister Arlene Penza from Burbank California, her six children Nancy and Rick Sharpnack of Lakeside California, John (Tom) and Diane Campbell, Carol Foster, Janet and Ed Stutzman, JoAnn and Dave Tegge, Judy Campbell and Marshall Wicks all of Spokane, WA. and their families including16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, nephews Steve and Connie Penza, Blayde and Launa Penza and their families in addition to many “east coast” cousins!
Evelyn will be missed by so many, she taught us all so much!!
