

Frances passed away December 24th at Park Place in Spokane Valley at the age of 90.
Frances was born June 25th in Leavenworth, Washington to parents Leslie Lenore Mercer and Genevieve Mary Barkee. She graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1943. According to her senior yearbook, her ambition was "To be as good a teacher as my mother."
Frances graduated from Central Washington College of Education in Ellensburg, WA in 1946 with a degree in History/Geography and a minor in Library Science. She later went on to get a Masters in Library Sciences from Eastern Washington College of Education.
Frances retired from the East Valley School District after many years of service and always enjoyed seeing her former students around town.
Frances loved her books and expanded the libraries of several area churches. She also became very adept at repairing books and mended many Bibles and books for her friends. She enjoyed her reading groups and her Bible study classes. She was also known for her love of hats and butterflies.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Chester L. Murray.
She is survived by her brother Bruce Mercer (Maryellen) of Arizona; daughters Betty (Waymon) Bayley of Spokane, Mary Lee Beamon, of Texas, Kathy (Richard) Fulkerson of Valley, WA; and son David (Patsy) Murray of Moses Lake, WA; ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren who were all special to her.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 16, 2015 at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 North Pines Road in Spokane Valley, Washington.
