

James Delbert Pettet, age 87, former Spokane resident, passed away in Clarkston, WA on 9/24/2023 after living 37 years with Parkinson’s.
Jim was born on 5/30/1936 to Janette & Vernon Pettet in Bozeman, MT. In 1946, the family moved to Spokane, WA. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1955.
Jim married Marjorie Manz in 1957 and began an apprenticeship at Great Northern Railroad at the Hillyard yards. Daughter Rene’ joined the family in 1960, followed by son James in 1962. In December of 1962, Jim began his career as a tanker driver for Atlantic Richfield, retiring from Conoco in 1993.
Jim’s greatest love was family get-togethers, especially camping trips, fishing with his son and grandkids, trips to the ocean and Priest Lake. He had a great time league bowling with friends and playing basketball. Dear to his heart was time spent tying flies, smoking fish and being the neighborhood backyard mechanic.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, sisters Doris Friesen & Patricia Sisson, brother Vernon Pettet, grandson Robert Fithen, great-grandson Alan Swearengin. He is survived by his wife Marjorie, daughter René Terry (Eldon), son James Pettet (Vicky), granddaughters Crystal Overstreet (Tim), Caroline Swearengin, grandsons JT Pettet (Crystina), Justin Pettet (Alyssa), Jacob Pettet (Madi) and great-grandchildren Elizabeth & Harper Swearengin and Penelope & Gabriel Pettet, brother-in-law Mel Friesen, sisters-in-law Bonnie Hinman and Reneta Gay and many caring nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Hazen & Jaeger Spokane Valley on 10/28/23 at 1 pm, with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
