

Josephine Roth Koch passed away at age 100, on November 28, 2025, in Spokane Valley, WA. Born in Ruff, WA on August 16, 1925, her family relocated to Harrington, WA where Josephine attended and graduated from Harrington High School in 1943. Post High School, Josephine left for Portland, OR to attend Cascade College (later absorbed into Seattle Pacific College), from 1949 - 1952. Josephine worked in the Student Accounts Business Office, while attending classes and performing as a stalwart member of the Casket College Acapella Choir.
Returning to Harrington in 1952, Josephine worked for The Old National Bank. During her time with the bank, she reconnected with an old childhood friend, Deral Clyde Koch. The two were married on October 14, 1955.
The early years of marriage life saw Josephine and Deral reside in Valleyford, WA, where Josephine took up homesteading on their farm, enjoying gardening, various crafting projects, and most importantly playing music. Deral and Josephine became dedicated members of their local community church, where Josephine presided as the primary pianist for several decades.
Josephine is survived by her only child, Dianne (Koch) Stainsbury, four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 10, 2026, at 11an at the Valleyford Community Church. The family extends their invitation to join them in honoring Josephine's extraordinary life.
